Why Kiwis are switching
Plenty of people check what else is out there before their fixed term ends.
Here's why it can be worth a look.
- Fixed terms endWhen your fixed term is coming up, it's a good time to see what other lenders could offer before you roll over.
- Rates differRates on similar loans can differ between banks, so it can be worth comparing rather than taking the first offer.
- Cashback can helpSome banks pay cashback when you switch, though you usually pay it back if you leave within a set time.
- Less legworkSomeone who can talk through your options can handle much of the comparing and paperwork for you.

Fair questions
The stuff people ask before they tap.
How is this paid for?
Mortgage advisers are usually paid a commission by the lender. If your loan settles, the adviser's business may pay Online Home Loans a referral fee. It is not added to your loan and does not change what you pay. Anyone you deal with should tell you how they're paid, and about any fees, before you go ahead.
Will I get a pile of sales calls?
No. We pass your details on once and the person we refer you to takes it from there. If you'd rather not get a call out of the blue, pick "text me first" or "email me first" on the last step.
Does this affect my credit score?
No. Filling this in is not a credit check. If you decide to apply with a bank later, the bank runs one then, and you'll know before it happens.
Won't my bank just match it?
Sometimes. Rates on similar loans can differ between banks, so it can be worth comparing.
What about break fees?
If your fixed term is ending, there's no break fee. When rates have gone up since you fixed, break fees are usually zero too. The person we refer you to checks this before you commit to anything.
Isn't switching a lot of paperwork?
It varies. Whoever you deal with can usually handle much of the paperwork, and some lenders may contribute to legal fees for simple switches.
Who can get in touch?
Someone who can talk through your options. They can get in touch, usually within one working day, the way you asked.
Your fixed rate won't wait. This takes a minute.
Four taps, a few details, then one person takes it from there.
